Instinctive Shooting for a Rona Beginner

Hey everyone! I've been practicing a lot recently and I've really taken to aiming instinctively. Consequently, my aim hasn't been the greatest and I'm constantly hitting the target at random locations (or missing it completely). On rare occasion, the arrow goes where I want it, but I've lost several arrows already. I've tried other methods of aiming, but shooting instinctively just FEELS right. I guess I'm just getting frustrated with myself, since I feel like I'm doing everything I can to make consistent shots, but my arrows never seem to group well. I know shooting accurately will take time and practice, but any tips/tricks would be most welcome! submitted by /u/Ebriham [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/2XNDA99 via

Form Check

Hey guys, just started shooting in January and died down as my club closed and we went into quarantine. But as I get back started I wanted a form check. This is 10 yards. You don't have to watch the full video. I start with a closer shot and then got one waist up. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1SIS_a1b0l4i0Vcp-Quep8UmpNn8qOXlc/view?usp=drivesdk I genuinely appreciate anyone taking the time to watch and comment. I want to become consistent. submitted by /u/imgrapenoseboy [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/2XJ84ZU via

Worst that can happen legally when target shooting in an open field? (Quebec)

My partner and I have been away from our archery range for 3 months now and living in the city, we don't really have anywhere safe to shoot. Today we drove 30 minutes away from the city and found some open fields where I'm certain there is no danger of someone accidentally getting in our range (the area is inaccessible except from a single path, which would be behind us). Long story short, we are wondering what would happen if we got caught or reported to the cops. As far as I understand, bows are weapons, but I also know that plenty of people legally shoot in their own backyards so I'm wondering how bad it could be. Would anyone have info on this? submitted by /u/0rionis [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/2MgVko3 via

Need help getting new bow and arrows set up.

So i just bought a bow, arrows, and a target from Bass Pro Shops. It is a Fleetwood Monarch recurve bow. (pretty similar to the Samick Sage.) I also bought Blackout X3 hunter carbon arrows. They came very long. Do I need to cut them? How do I put a tip on the arrows? What tips should I buy? Do I need a stringer for the bow? ILF libs that different in feel drawing?

Recently got a Hoyt satori 17inch that has the Hoyt traditional limbs at 30lbs medium. Shoots nice for my being a total novice. A club member let me shoot her Hoyt 25inch target riser that also had medium ILF limbs, hers where 30lbs too. Wow what a vast difference in feel. The satori felt like it fights ya as you pull like a trad bow would(feels like other trad bows and like our Hoyt buffalo that has same limbs but 40lbs) , hers pulled as if it was a child’s bow. Does the riser size make that big of a difference or do you think it was higher end limbs and or lo Nd er overall size. submitted by /u/Spicywolff [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/3djoxud via

Seeking an affordable recurve backpack: Outdoor shooting, possibly a league?

I am four weeks into a six week beginner class, I'm still carrying an unstrung Sage and arrows with a rubber band on them into the shop each week. I'm getting a box target to shoot at on a friend's land, that'll be my casual shooting spot. However, the shop I'm learning at runs a weekly league and I may occasionally drop in for fun. Not aiming to be super competitive, but it's nearby and if I have that night off why not. So, I need a backpack that fits a Samick sage...and...whatever else I may eventually buy? I'm likely sticking with barebow recurve. However, I also want this bag to be my whole kit container and be able to keep it all portable. As affordable as possible! submitted by /u/Highwayman1717 [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/2Mdt85t via

Thoughts on purchasing a Cajun Sucker Punch RTF Package?

Hey folks, I have been looking into getting into Bowfishing for some time now and could use some opinions on what direction I should be going. I have a Bear Cruiser G2 that I use for target shooting and will eventually use for hunting this fall. Everything on it is dialed in and I don't wish to mess that up unless I have to. My local shop is due to be getting a couple Cajun Sucker Punch Ready To Fish packages within a week or two. I thought about just purchasing one of these when they came in. Does anyone have any experience using one of these? I've read some mixed reviews that have said the bow is great but the reel and hardware is not. Would I be better off getting a reel put on the bow I already have and then possibly buying another one prior to hunting season? submitted by /u/PNWEMT [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/2Md0am7 via

Lasik caused a change in visual acuity, Should I change my bow?

Hi am fairly new to archery and had practiced for about 6 months before my bow got stolen 7 months ago. I am right eye dominant and left handed. Recently I had lasik surgery and this changed by visual acuity. Now my left eye (20/15 no astigmatism) is sharper than my right eye (20/25 slight astigmatism). I am considering training to change my eye dominance considering that I am left handed in the first place and that my left eye is better now than my right but I'm not sure if I should. I think I'd like to begin archery again and I would love to hear feedback from you guys! submitted by /u/Caxpy [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/3erIlfc via

Fingers workout?

Hi! New to archery here. Probably better bowyer than archer but still not good at either of them. I recently modified my ash and hickory bow, and made a somewhat recurve(-nstein) out of a longbow. Point is, overnight I switched from 34# to a 45# and after a few shots I feel my finger tips are burning. I do wear a three-fingers glove, which is why I think the problem is more strength related. And I might add a second leather pad on the finger tips anyway. But: Does any of you know about some good workout to strengthen the shooting fingers? Thank you all and stay safe! submitted by /u/HyacinthusBark [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/2zMkXu6 via

Question regarding a Bear Odyssey II Youth Bow

My wife has shown interest in wanting to learn how to use a compound bow with me. I have an older PSE that my dad handed down to me and enjoy target shooting. The hope is to feel confident for archery elk hunts in the next couple years but I definitely need to dedicate more time. I looked on Craigslist to see if there was anything locally I could purchase for my wife and saw a Bear Odyssey II youth bow that can be adjusted out to 27" draw length and 50# which should fit my 5'3" wife as a starter bow. The guy will include a hard case and a few arrows for $160; his initial posting was $200 and no case included. I guess my question is does that seem like a fair price if the bow is in good shape? Thanks in advance for any help 😊 submitted by /u/falconxpapix2 [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/2MbmuN5 via

PSE Legacy Longbow Brace Height / Draw Length

Hello everyone, After a few years away from archery, I strung up my 55#/68" long PSE Legacy longbow. Can anyone here tell me what the proper OEM brace height and maximum draw length are for this bow? Right now it's set at about six inches and I would guess the max draw length is 28 inches. I do not have the original packaging and the brace height and max draw length are not listed on the bow. The website below claims the brace height is eight inches, but that seems too high and I seriously doubt the original bow string has stretched by two inches nor should I add the equivalent twists as means to shorten. https://www.sportsmansguide.com/product/index/pse-legacy-longbow?a=394648 Thanks submitted by /u/13_ones [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/36EKH7Z via

Slight shoulder discomfort, newbie.

Using a 35lb, 64inch recurve. Roughly 30inch draw soo.. ~40lb at my fingers I suppose. I know, I was impatient and bought a 35lb bow because everything else was out of stock. I got my bow last week, I practiced for 3 days shooting about 30 arrows a day. (5 sets of 6 arrows) I went out this morning to do the same, on my first set of six I noticed some pain in my left should (RH bow), so I stopped my session early and I won't practice again until I feel normal. I assume my form is horrible, I can't get lessons just yet here, but I will as soon as some more restrictions are lifted. I think I'd also better buy some lower pound limbs, I'm using spyder xl bow right now. Which is compatible with samick sage limbs, I think sage limbs aren't quite as long as my current limbs. I specifically got a larger bow as my draw is over 28 inches. Is anyone able to confirm this? Will it be okay to use shorter limbs if that is the case? Not sure what my next step is from here.

How do I overcome target panic? (Recurve)

Allthough I have been shooting for five years at the moment I have a really bad case of target panic, and I don’t know what to do. Compound bow tips

Hello r/archery . I have been shooting for 6 years, and ive recently gone and bought a 40 lbs toppoint compound. However i dont really shoot too often because i have a bad habit. I have never gotten any lessons apart from the basics (safety and stance) because my archery club didnt have lessons back then. And some time along the way i picked up the habit of my hand going back and forth when i get on target. Im thinking keep pulling, but my head just does it, so whenever im shooting i get quite cared of mybown bow, because my hand keeps slamming forward every time my head does this. Does anyone have some tips or exercises to try and get this out of my system? Thanks in advance. I need help deciding between three compound bows.

Tomorrow I’m heading to my local archery store to pick up my first compound bow. I was there earlier today and was really interested in three bows. The PSE uprising Fully kitted - $279 Diamond Edge 320 Fully Kitted - I believe it was $399 Elite Ember Fully Kitted - $549 Do any of you own these bows? Have you shot them? I’m an entry level archer, only shot a few times on some old equipment. Believe my draw length is roughly 29”. I want to target shoot, then move into hunting. Keep in mind that I’ll be shooting them tomorrow so if there any room for “personal feel,” I’ll get that tomorrow. Just curious if there’s a clear winner between them, or a dud in the mix.
