I’m convinced my bow is the prettiest one that’s ever existed. Real wildflowers + gorgeous pyrography on the limbs...I fell in love the moment I laid eyes on her. Figured some of you on here might appreciate this beaut.

New scope wont adjust to center shot.

Just got a new (to me) PSE Supra Focus. Ordered a new Shrewd Nomad scope. Once installing the scope I drew the bow just to see where we were as far as sight picture goes, and realized the riser was blocking the sight picture almost all the way to the pin. I have my scope rod slid all the way to the left and my micro adjust also maxed out to the left and the riser still blocks the right edge of the scope and it is still around 1/8 of an inch off of center shot. Am I missing something? I haven’t yet shot it like this or tuned it yet but I always try to start at center shot, which I can’t even achieve. submitted by /u/That_TN_Guy [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/3qmYZFH via

So, I’ve got this target here, and recently our arrows have started bouncing off. Particularly in the gold. Is this because the stuffing is really collapsed so it’s basically just stretched canvas? Would tacking smaller target faces onto the corners help?

Compound Bow Releases for Hunting

I just got a Bear Species Compound Bow to get into Archery Hunting. It was a package deal and came with a Trophy Ridge ArchX release. However, after playing with the release to get a feel it has a HAIR TRIGGER. Just a gentle caress on the trigger and it opens. A bit too light for a newbie. I'm looking for something, hopefully sub $100, until I'm more experienced which has a bit of a heavier trigger and can withstand hunting. Any suggestions? submitted by /u/42AngryPandas [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/3tjL84N via

[Asiatic Trad] Bow hand index finger slapped by arrow?

I shoot with my bow using "little eagle claw" grip (as described by GAO Ying, using middle, ring and pinky finger to grip the bow. He did not recommend this grip, he promoted "big eagle claw" instead) I usually use my index finger as guide for full draw, like a clicker for Olympic recurve, and never had any issues before. This time I tried my friend's bow and used my usual grip, and the arrow slapped my bow hand index finger, leaving burning sensation. I actually checked and saw others using the same grip as well so I presume it's a valid grip: (i.e. @7:36) https://youtu.be/FTHlswy4UXU So what did I do wrong? Do I need to change to "big eagle claw" (grip with all four fingers, apply force on the grip with ring and pinky fingers only)? Thanks!! submitted by /u/lun0619 [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/3FmKiXo via

Quiver Question

Although I have been into archery on and off for a few years, I would still consider myself a newbie. I picked up a PSE Fever a few years ago and took the route of teaching myself, so sorry in advance if this is a dumb post. Anyway, my question is related to quivers. Is it typical for people with compound bows to use quivers that go on your hip or back? I have a quiver that attaches to the bow, but it gets pretty annoying to use when I’m at the range and need to reinsert the arrows each time after shooting a round. Thanks all. submitted by /u/itsjazzytime [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/3K07Kxg via

32.5 draw. Can I fit into the new hoyt rx-7 ultra? (Max adv’d DL 32”)?

Depending on the measurement method my draw length should be 32.5”. I’d really like to get into the new rx-7 ultra with an advertised max draw length of 32”. Is this a good option for me or should I be looking into perhaps the new hoyt highline with max draw 34”? My first and only bow I’ve owned to this point is a prime logic ct9, with an advertised max DL of 32” too. It seems to feel fine shooting it but with my limited experience I don’t have anything to compare it to either. It’s a huge and heavy bow and hard to spot and stalk hunt with. I like the idea of the smaller and lighter rx-7ultra but don’t want to spend the money if that .5” is critically Important to account for. any feedback to help me get into the right bow is appreciated. submitted by /u/StarMagnum [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/33lfQzN via

Cross draw ok?

So I ordered a Carol archery hip quiver, the AQ 122 specifically, and the website said it was right-handed. It has arrived, and it is most assuredly left-handed (the fletchings point away from me when it hangs on my left hip). I really like the way it looks, and it was the last one they had, so I don't want to try to send it back if I can avoid it. I am new at archery, so I'm wondering is this going to be a problem? I can cross draw arrows from it pretty comfortably, but is there some sort of issue I'm not thinking about that may come up? Less important: Am I also going to look like a complete doofus to other archers when I'm at the range? submitted by /u/Any-Tie-9038 [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/3ncsibW via

Matthews V3X ATA Question

Hey everyone, I’ve never owned a shorter ATA bow. My draw is 28”. I’m not the best archer, just average. I don’t shoot past 40 very often either. I mostly hunt out of trees but plan on using some ground blinds this upcoming season. With that background out of the way, I’m considering going with a shorter ATA for this first time but wanted input from people with experience with both ATAs of the V3X (29 & 33). I’ve always been told that I should go with a longer ATA as it is more forgiving, but of late I’m hearing that these new Matthews bows are really breaking down that argument with how they build their bows and they seem to shoot as if their ATAs are actually 4-5 inches longer. With my Diatribe completed, what do you guys recommend from experience with these new bows? I haven’t shot them yet and hope to get out this week to try some demos. Need some big time advice/opinions on shelf building/diagnostics.....?

I shoot a Win&Win Black Elk 62", 25# (weight I pull with my short draw on 30# limbs), with Easton Inspire 1200 26" arrows. Had the bow since October, riser is cut way past centre, when building the shelf I used a printed plastic base covered in felt, I molded the shelf so that the arrow sat where I wanted it to and because the riser is cut so far past centre the arrows had no contact with the strike plate. Shot with my shelf like this for a while with straight arrows (ish, there was still quite abit of movement from the arrow on the shelf at times which would effect the flight) , but always shot with more of a "target archer" stance, so bow was upright straight. Wanted to change my stance to include a slight canter, as majority of people seem to shoot that way in 3D Archery. So to keep my arrow in centre shot while cantering I had to change my shelf. So I changed the shelf to bring the strike plate out so that the arrow would rest against the strike plate wh

Newbie Question: Any recommendations for 34" arrows?

tldr; A tall guy needs long arrows. Can somebody suggest any arrows with spines that fit a ~35-40 lbs draw weight? Favorably made from carbon, but aluminium arrows are fine as well. Hello there. I am a tall guy with long arms and a few months ago I started with (target) archery. Up until now I was meddling around with a rented 70" inch wooden take-down recurve with uncut 32" arrows. But since it'll soon be time to get my own bow (72" with est. 35 lbs on my fingers), I now need arrows with the correct length. My measured draw length is ~33,5 inch and yes, I can easily pull my current arrows of the arrow rest. After quite an intensive bit of research I could only find these shafts that come in 34" inches: BlackEagle Vintage (carbon) Easton XX75 Platinum Plus (alu) Nijora Tokala (carbon; German brand) Is this all there is out there or do you guys know any arrows or arrow makers I missed. I just need a second opinion, because I don't want to blow

Archery communication board

Hi all I am a third year speech and language therapy student and have an assignment to make a communication board for a client. The board will be for a leisure activity and I have chosen archery. The client will be new to the sport so I need some vocabulary to start her off. I have unfortunately never done archery myself so wondered if you could help me with some key words and phrases that she may need/be useful? The bulk of the assessment will be how I arrange the board and the essay critiquing it - so asking for help with vocabulary is allowed. Thank you very much in advance. submitted by /u/JRH44 [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/3qTp0LN via

Does the draw weight feel the same on a longbow and a compound bow?

I have done longbow shooting for awhile and I have found a 35lbs draw weight to fit me. I am interested in starting bow hunting, but I need a compound bow for that. Surfing around the Internet shops I so far haven't been able to find a single compound under 45 lbs. I would assume this has something to do with the safety of the kill. I have never tried to draw a compound bow. All the ones I have come by have been like 60-70 lbs which is nowhere near what I can draw. So my question is: Does a 45 lbs feel the same on a longbow as a compound bow? Or is it easier to draw on a compound? If not, I might have to give up my dream of bow hunting, since I am never gonna be able to draw wooping 45 lbs with my spaghetti arms. submitted by /u/Katara_1 [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/3sWS08d via

Need Help with New Bow

Want to get into archery so asked Santa for this bow for Christmas: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B08H8B5XL9/ref=ppx_yo_mob_b_track_package_o0_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . Seemed like a nice starter set. It was a bit short on instructions other than how to string the bow. I've got it mostly constructed but have 2 questions. It looks like the arrow guide just sticks on with a provided sticky pad. Does that seem correct? There are two small metal pieces I can't identify. Look like small brackets of some kind. Any suggestions on what they might be? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Cr49tN4b6J7hX4Bi762sM26e2dYLa_gD/view?usp=drivesdk Thanks! submitted by /u/professionaladult157 [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/34iAYqF via

Arrow advice for Black Hunter Takedown Recurve

Hi everyone! I've been dabbling in some archery for the past month or so and I am really enjoying it! The club I go to focuses mostly on compounds for beginners, which is fine, but I have a bit of a soft spot for recurves and the more traditional side of archery. For this reason, and for financial ones, I've decided my first personal bow will most probably be a recurve, a Black Hunter Takedown (given the overall very positive experiences most people have with it and its price). I will keep shooting a bit with the compound as well and I know that as a beginner, the most important thing is to learn proper form. For those who don't know anything about the Black Hunter, the main specs for the one I might buy are: - 60" height / 30 lbs@28" / Max. draw length 31" / Bamboo core / Laminated wood and fibre glass limbs. (My own max. draw length is about 26.5", I'm a woman, about 5'6", or 170cm). My question to anyone who knows of this bow and esp

Do all good compound bows require bowpresses? How often do you have to put a compound bow in a bowpress to tune it? Are there bows that dont require them that you can tune manually at home?

Hey guys Sorry for the long title but the questions in the title are essential the exact questions im having right now when trying to figure out what compound bow is best for me. Id prefer one that I can do all the tuning and adjustments myself from home but theres so many different bows that I honestly have no idea the use cases for some over others. If you have the answers to any of these questions id love to get a little bit of insight on this topic.
