Limb for Gillo G1

Hi, I have been shooting for around a year and a half with the Adventure 2.0 recurve bow and want to upgrade my bow a bit. I’m interested in barebow so I’m looking at the Gillo G1 25” riser, I need some advice about choosing the limb for it. I’m 5’3 and my draw length is 25 inches, my budget is about 300~400$. Thank you! submitted by /u/justaclonedontmindme [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/3GAyAuh via

Bottom of sight hits my arrow at extended yardage

I have a Spot Hogg Fast Eddie single pin sight on my Hoyt RedWRX. The sight is amazing out to about 70 yards and then the bottom of the sight starts hitting my fletching. Is there any adjustment I can make to raise the sight up and re-sight it in so I can get more yardage out of it? The tape is good to 100 yards and I want to be able to use it for long 3D shots. I have read that it may require an adjustment to my peep but I figured I’d ask here. Thanks. submitted by /u/ClemDooresHair [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/3mypFBz via

Good all round string colour?

I'm looking for ideas of a good all round string colour for my bow... I've been using red for a long time but having tracked down issues with my shooting that have caused some inconsistencies (some kit related, some habit related) one of the biggest issues is my string colour... I'm just loosing the dark red at full draw with my matt grey riser, which is causing really crap groups even at 18m What kind of colours to people go for that are good in the majority of light conditions? New to archery but still have quite a shaky grip on my bow, how to improve?

I am going to the archery club at my uni and tried out a few different club bows until I got my own which is 70" and 14lbs. I wanted something 20-30lbs because I am a newbie and quite skinny so I can't pull back a heavy bow. However, I am 6ft2" so I am a bit taller so I needed a longer bow. I tried borrowing someone's bow sight today and even though I was aiming at the target and looking through the eyepiece I kept missing every time. Only got near the target I was aiming at once. They kept adjusting it for me cause they knew more how to do it. Though even when I aim without the sight it is hard for me to hit the target. Is it normal to be this bad this bad early on? I know that you need years of practice to get any good and most people start archery when they are kids or something. I did get my own target and gear from Merlin's Archery (in the UK) so I will practice more on my own as well. But I still can't stop my arms/hands from shaking a bit when I pull

Hey guys, was hoping for a form check. Been shooting for about 1,5 years barebow and I'm not really happy with my release. Maybe point some things out I could practice on. Thanks :)

Bow size

I have a 29-30 inch draw, is a 62 inch bow good? I want to learn how to hunt with a bow and arrow and i heard some people say a 62 inch is more practical because it’s shorter, on the other hand some say i should get a longer one due to it having less stacking and it’s easier on the shoulders. submitted by /u/ShawarmaWrapSupreme [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/3pSUKle via

Arrow off course with higher FOC

I am shooting a 70 lb compound bow at 32 inches. For months I have been shooting a very heavy and stiff arrow. Black eagle Spartans at 200 spine. I have been using a 100 grain tip and 28 grain inset. With this setup my arrows fly very well. I recently bought 125 grain tips and when I shoot them 1/2 of the shots wobble or go off course. Iv swapped out arrows and tips multiple times but I am getting lots of wobble with the heavier tips. Can anyone explain help this? I thought higher FOC would help my accuracy not hurt it. submitted by /u/Microscop3s [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/3vXKJ7z via

Fletchings keep falling off my FMJ arrows

I just started fletching my own arrows about a month ago. I am using the standard 2 inch blazer vanes and Easton FMJ arrows, I clean the arrow with acetone and let dry before attaching the fletching. I am using Max bond adhesive and I have tried using a little and a lot of adhesive and nothing seems to work. I have refletched my arrows probably 4 times in a month. Anyone have any thoughts on what the issue is? This is getting time consuming and expensive. submitted by /u/No_Tackle1831 [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/3pQz9di via

Archery DIY? Need some help designing a backdrop

I need a backdrop just in case I miss my 60x60 cm foam target from a 10 to 20m range.. behind it is a solid wall, however it is owned by others. I'd rather not damage it and avoid any problems further down the road.. Challenge: I need to be able to move it after I'm done with it. So something that can be assembled and disassembled. Ease of carry. Something that fits in a bag? The bag for the stand is 71 cm (30 in) long.. i can get a light stand bag that's 1.1 m (43.3in) long as well Size consideration: my first thought was 2m x 2m.. (78.7 in) is that enough? Should I make it bigger/smaller? Current stand ideas: Green screen stand. It feels like the stand would not be stable and would fall off easily. PVC pipe and connectors.. something like what this person made https://youtu.be/UAfaWEjpKwE , make the back leg longer, front leg shorter.. not sure how strong the pvc connector is for the leg.. should be fine though? Backdrop: Green screens? Flannel blanket? So

Having fun shooting my bow. It gets expencive when you start hitting your own arrows.

I've found a local archery spot. What to buy to start out?

Hey! Long time lurker. So I've wanted to get into the world of arrow shootin' for YEARS. And I've found an indoor archery area here in town, and I think I'd like to start with some lessons. The conflict is I don't have a bow, or anything for that matter. Where should I start when looking for a good quality budget bow? I don't plan to hunt with it just yet (5 year goal) but when that bridge comes, I'm happy to get a bow specifically for hunting Bucks/ ELK. For now, I'd love something for target practice, and to get the hang of archery until I'm financially ready to upgrade to something longer term. With this beginner/ intermediate bow, I see it being the only bow I purchase for a minimum of 5 years, and I'd love for it to match the quality for price. As a full time wood worker, I've considered strongly making my own longbow to start, but jeez, I really don't have the time, and I'd rather support someone of quality versus being che

Any recommendations for an ambidextrous takedown recurve?

Hello guys, I recently bought a Samick Sage (Classic Takedown Bow) and I shoot right handed, I have really been enjoying it so far. But I was thinking about buying a second bow that my girlfriend/friends could use. I really like the idea of takedown bows because of the versatility, but I was wondering if there were any decent ambidextrous takedown bows on the market so that it wouldn't really matter who was shooting it! It doesn't have to be anything special, as long as it's not a total piece of crap from China. Comparable arrows to Victory NVX 23s 500 spine

I have a few NVX 23s in 500 spine that I am currently shooting for both indoors and outdoor target compound, and I've found them to be great consistent arrows. The only issue is that well, these are not in production anymore. What are some comparable 23/64" arrows that I can buy? The best case scenario is that the new arrows are so similar that I would be able to shoot NVX 23s and the new arrows without changing anything. Realistically, I know this would not be the case. The next best thing would be to just buy a dozen or two of the new arrows in correct spine for my setup and use NVXs as backups. My current draw length is 27 inch, my arrow shafts are 28.5 inches, and my draw weight is at 50lb. submitted by /u/choind3 [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/3bnd0e9 via

I use to do archery when I was younger and really enjoyed. Now I'm looking at getting back omto it but was wondering how you determine the proper bow length? My draw length is 28.5 inches or so

I've looked it up but I've seen a couple different things that are drastically different. My spam is roughly 72 inches and I believe the correct draw length is around 28.5 inches or so. I've been trying to use that to determine bow length and one said 60 inches would be about right then another said 64 and there were others that were different. submitted by /u/AbsolutGGoose [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/3BjvZ3L via

Endless loop string minimum number of twists?

Is there a minimum number of twists that need to be put into an endless loop bowstring? I'm referring to the twists you put in to alter the brace height, not the overall strands. My string length is just a tad on the shorter side so I don't have many twists in it currently to get the desired brace height, the bow is 68 inches AMO length. I've read that the individual strands can fan out when an arrow is shot if there aren't enough twists and briefly puts uneven load on the strands when it snaps back to shape. submitted by /u/Mountain-Lemon-1200 [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/2XSQlDo via

A few questions, mostly about a flemish twist string.

Should I be worried that my string can twist and untwist when it's unstrung? Will this effect the bow? So far it's just a twist or two and I twist it back up before stringing. I have a flemish twist string Does a flemish string require any serving besides the center serving? My string didn't come with any serving at all so I did the center serving myself and it's a bit long, especially on the bottom? Will this affect the string? I believe I also served in the wrong direction which will probably shorten the lift of my serving. The bow I have is made of wood and has some permanent set already, which I assume is normal. I normally keep the bow strung for a few hours when I'm using and unstring it when I'm not, how long is too long? Samick Sage String Stretch?

So I had an brand new string laying around, I cannot for the life of me remember which of my bows I bought it for. It is 58", for a 62" AMO bow. 16 strands, dacron endless loop. My stock string on my Sage is nearing its end, and I was going to twist my new string and noticed twisted up it is at least an inch or 2 shorter than the one I have had on my Sage for about 6 years. Is this because the old string has stretched out? Do I have to get specific types of arrows for a recurve bow?

At the moment I use my club's archery equipment but I was planning to get a low pound recurve bow tomorrow from an archery shop in my neighboring town since my current town does not have one. I wanted to try out different bows and see what is the best fit for me. Though the arrows in that shop are a bit expensive for my price bracket. I might just keep on using the arrows at the club and only get my own bow. However, I do want to use my bow in my backyard during my free time some days. So I wanted to get my own arrows.
