First bow advice for my girlfriend

My girlfriend and I have been looking at bows lately and she’s shot a few and have narrowed down our search to two bows.

First one is the Mathews Prima, she really liked how the bow shot and felt however with the model she was shooting she was struggling with the draw weight (38lbs). It had 50lb limbs and that was as low as it went. The bow shop said it can be ordered with 40lb limbs that could get the draw weight down to low 30’s and high 20’s. She was able to get it about an inch back from the let off and barely needed any help getting it there.

The other bow is the elite ember, she liked that one as well it’s not quite as smooth as the Mathews but it has a much bigger range for the draw weight and 32lb she was able to shoot consistently and it wasn’t too much for her.

With her being new to archery which way would you recommend going? She really liked the way the prima felt in her hand and how it shot just worried about not shooting one with the exact limbs.

We want a bow that she can grow with and eventually she can start hunting with when she gets some strength built up.

What are your thoughts on the bows and her situation? Price isn’t too much of a concern as long as she’s getting the right bow that’s going to last her awhile. I know Mathews is a great brand but how are the elites? Any advice would be great! Thank you!

Shibuya vs Axcel vs other top end sights?

So my budget has increased and i decided i'm going for a top-level sight for the target style recurve i'm building. It seems that Shibuya and Axcel are the top end, so for anyone who has experience with either one of them, or preferably both, could you tell me the differences, pros and cons, and which one is the best value? i'm planning on buying the most expensive, so the Axcel Achieve XP - Recurve or the Shibuya Ultima RC PRO Carbon Sight . If there's any other top end sights you think are better, let me know. I want this to be the first and last sight that i ever buy, and price doesn't really matter. Another question, on the Shibuya there's an option for "Single mount" and "Double mount." What do those mean? And lastly, is the sight aperture on either of the sights suitable, or is there better after-market apertures that are better? I'm sort of thinking that is something I should be buying from my local shop so i can actually te...

Help me identify a problem with aiming.

So im trying to learn how to gap shoot, but the problem is, the first step is 'use the tip of the arrow'. Now when I do this, I can already tell before shooting that if I use the tip of the arrow, the shot will go way left, this is obviously before even factoring in the gap above and below the target. I don't have too much trouble grouping in the yellow at 10ms, but the way im 'aiming' is just looking at the target and knowing that I need to shoot a certain distance to the right and a certain distance down. Im not using the arrow tip here...its hard to say exactly what im using as the reference its just a feeling I guess? I wouldn't say its instinctive as im definitely trying to aim I just don't know how im doing it, and I don't think it would hold up as I increase distance so I want to learn how to gap shoot properly. I appreciate having to adjust up or down as thats part of gap shooting, but if im having to compensate right, what could the problem ...

Question to arrows

Hello! I just started with archery, I joined a club and bought a recurve set "for beginners" (it was on sale and had everything i as a newbie needed) Sadly the arrows I got don't work for me And I don't know anything about arrows. I tried to find out what arrows I needed, but I don't know what spine i need, or how long they are supposed to be also I don't know what tips are allowed for competition (it seems mine are for hunting/3d target shooting) How do I calculate my spine or length? I have a 68" recurve with 24 lbs limbs I think my draw length might be around 25 to 27. What is the difference between "1170" and "16/16" ? I mean, what does the "/" in particular mean? This is actually very confusing I hope someone can help Thank you ๐Ÿน๐Ÿ€ submitted by /u/ViviAliasTobi [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/3FCc4Qa via
