I am taking delivery soon of a netting system designed for stopping athletics- lacrosse or soccer balls, hockey pucks, that sort of netting. The system utilizes 4 20’ tall poles (modular, can be shortened to 12’ tall) with pulleys on the top in order to raise the netting (the specific system is made by NetWorldSports) . It occurred to me that this means it could be possible to use the same poles to raise a different net for archery.
I have a mission riot. It has been a while since I used it, I will have to increase both the draw length and weight, but I suspect I will be using it at around 50lbs, give or take. My dad has a Hoyt Charger that is set at 55lbs as well, if I am not mistaken. I would like to be able to use them in our yard this summer.
I will only use them if I can find an effective backstop netting solution within my budget. As I suspect is the case for all of you reading this, safety is a top priority, and if there remains a risk of the arrows passing through, that eliminates the option. Net world sports makes backstop netting, but it appears based on reviews that it is meant for camp style bows with draw weights in the 20lbs range, which leads me to believe that despite using field tips I will still tear that netting apart. Is there any netting meant for stopping arrows at 40-70lbs draw weight? Any tips/experience/guidance/advise is welcome. Also saw the option from Lancaster. Is that effective when doubled up like they suggest?
