Having shot clout last year using my Olympic recurve turned barebow I'd like to try again later this year but use a more traditional English longbow
From the general chit chat at the shoot most were shooting 40-50# longbows with the one +60# bow which won that division... Is this my go to draw weight?
I don't think I'll have any issue with tuning the bow/arrows I end up getting, but do I need to consider draw technique and draw length into this... I'm a short draw archer 26.5" and using a modern 45# ilf, shot using my Olympic recurve anchor, did okay last time out
Will the sudden jump in poundage be an issue? Will shooting an equivalent 45# longbow require me to sky draw/shoot it to get to 180 yards compared to my ilf barebow... Are there any performance differences between selfbows and laminated longbows or am I looking at getting some kinda shoulder injury inducing 100# warbow!
I'm not looking to break records, this is more for fun but also do well enough for it to be enjoyable... So just after some information on bows, personal experience and any potential issues to look out for
