Hey guys - i wanted to get a bow for years now - so today i finally decided to get one!
Now the more i look into it the more i find that it is not as simple as "buy bow - buy arrow - shoot bow"
So maybe some of you could help me so i don't make (too m)any beginner mistakes!
I decided to go for this bow:
https://www.bogensportwelt.de/JACKALOPE-Moonstone-60-Zoll-30-60-lbs-Take-Down-Recurvebogen-Rechtshand
The site is in german so i try to translate as good as i can:
Middle piece has 15 inch
Arms are set to 45lb
Bow length is 60 inch
Maximum draw length is 32 inch
Middle piece is Dymondwood
Arms are Achorn
Tips are Bakelit
Now i'm gonna be honest - most of those things don't say too much to me.
I've been reading /googling a lot but i decided that actually talking to someone might help me better/quicker.
So maybe you can help me out :)
Specifically about two things:
1)
The bow string is neon green - which does not fit the bow at all.
So i want a different one - is there anything i should look out for?
2)
The arrows.
If i got these:
https://www.bogensportwelt.de/Komplettpfeil-BSW-Cresting-905-Holzart-Zeder-R-11-32-Zoll
What "settings" would i need?
I'm guessing the "Spine" should be 45/50 lbs - since my bow has 45 lbs?
The arrow lenght is what probably confuses me the most - do i need to measure my arm length?
I read on the internet that you can calculate it with a specific arrow that has marks on it.
Do i need to get one of these first - then try it out - then order the arrows that i need?
Or is it not THAT important - and i can atleast start with a estimated length?
And last but not least the Arrowhead:
I don't really understand the grain calculation..
I read that for every lb the bow has it needs 8 gr?
But for a 45 lb bow that would mean i needed 360 gr?
Which isn't even listed on the arrowheads...
It goes from 80 to 100 to 125 gr
Sorry if i'm mixing something up - saying this again: I am a noob to this so i am trying to learn the proper way BEFORE buying the wrong stuff :)
Thank you for helping!
(And sorry for the WoT)
