So I am looking into buying my first ever bow and am planning on a recurve bow. I am currently deciding between a Samick Sage or Southwest Spyder as those two seem to keep coming up as top beginner bows on every list I see. The problem I am coming across is I can't find a good answer on what weight I should go with. I know most say for beginners to go light but I am a fairly big and muscular guy and work out regularly. Would it be insane to start with like 40 or 45 lbs? Some charts I have seen say for adult males over 180 lbs to go for 40 - 50 lbs draw weight but then others say a beginner should start around 30 lbs. Any suggestions from more experienced archers?
