Im finally getting into archery and am setting up a backyard range. The last thing I need to get is the actual targets... So my question is what is best target that can take a beating from regular use. There are the classic circular straw mat targets like you see in classic robin hood/ren faire tournaments, stacked bales of hay with paper targets pinned to them, or those foam blocks. I plan on spending quite some time working on this so I am wondering just how much punishment these can take. The bale of hay and paper targets will be shredded but cheap to replace. The Straw mats i have no idea how long they will hold up nor what kind of stopping power they have, and the foam blocks are the most expensive option so not sure how well they will last compared to their cost. Any feedback out there?
