Are old recurve bows safe to shoot?

The bow belonged to my grandfathers dad (my great grandfather), and hasn’t really been used since my grandfather died in 2011. It is fully wooden, and it has been stored in its bag unstrung.

I was thinking about getting back into archery, and my mother thought it would be nice to have someone else in the family use the bow. My only question is if it’s safe to use. I don’t want it to just snap in my hand.

I’m fully aware that I’ll probably need to replace the strings, and I plan on taking it to a professional to get it checked, but I figured I’d ask here first. Is it even worth the money to have it checked? Is it almost 100% chance that it’s unsafe to use? I’d hate for something that was in this family for so long to be broken. Any advice is appreciated!

Youth Bows!

Morning Reddit! My 6 year old daughter loves her toy bow and we want to surprise her with a real one. Can anyone recommend some good starting youth bows? I was thinking of a compound bow with light draw. 0-200$ would be great! submitted by /u/Demondeath1 [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/3fsFHct via
