Mid-range Recurve for Barebow Target Shooting

Hi all - I've been using a Southwest Archery Ghost 35# bow, and I'm relatively happy with it. Relatively. At some point, I will want to upgrade (perhaps for next summer), but don't have the money for something really fancy. Looking at the prices, it seems like you either go inexpensive/cheap or pretty high/out of my range right now.

Are there decent mid-range priced bows that you like? Last year's model? Two (or more) years ago model? Is there a good mid-range upgrade that is worth it? Price range? I would love to find a 'forever' bow but I would be saving for it, so budget would be a consideration.

I should mention that I'm not using a plunger (yet), and using a Hoyt super rest. I generally like the poundage, but would like to go with something I can upgrade the limbs on later when it's time.

And I know this is kind of a broad question. I have looked around a bit, but like I mentioned above, it seems like things are talked about at the extreme ends of the price spectrum. Either Hoyt prices or PVC and twine prices.

Question to arrows

Hello! I just started with archery, I joined a club and bought a recurve set "for beginners" (it was on sale and had everything i as a newbie needed) Sadly the arrows I got don't work for me And I don't know anything about arrows. I tried to find out what arrows I needed, but I don't know what spine i need, or how long they are supposed to be also I don't know what tips are allowed for competition (it seems mine are for hunting/3d target shooting) How do I calculate my spine or length? I have a 68" recurve with 24 lbs limbs I think my draw length might be around 25 to 27. What is the difference between "1170" and "16/16" ? I mean, what does the "/" in particular mean? This is actually very confusing I hope someone can help Thank you 🏹🍀 submitted by /u/ViviAliasTobi [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/3FCc4Qa via

Troubles with Thumb Draw...

Hello fellow archers! TLDR: I can't get my arrows to fly straight while using thumb draw. Please help! I started my archery journey for real last year with recurve. I loved it and I have become so much better than when I started. I've been using split finger, Mediterranean draw. My form is good and my arrows always fly straight and stick straight into the target. All I can see of the arrows is nocks and feathers when they're in the target. That's where I want to be. That makes me happy. Thumb draw, however... I have been practicing with it for a few months now. I've been using both Alibow's Mongolian fiberglass bow and their laminated Turkish bows. Both bows are 30# at 28" I have both a leather and plastic thumb rings that fit well. I've been shooting tight groups with thumb draw but my problem that I can't seem to fix on my own and can't learn from videos is that my arrows are always sticking in at an angle. I've tried Khatra, changin...

Shooting 40lb recurve with fingers

I’ve been competing with a 20lb genesis bow for 3 years and just graduated. I am used to using a three finger release and have always done so without a glove. However, i have recently purchased a 40lb recurve which i intend to hunt with but i have found that it hurts my fingers after only maybe 20 arrows. I have a glove but I can’t shoot well with it because it messes up my release (why i never used it with genesis). I had a similar problem to a lesser extent when I started with my genesis but after a while it stopped bothering me. Will it cause any damage to my fingers to continue shooting without a glove? And if so, can you recommend any other options for protecting my fingers or should I just try to make my glove work? submitted by /u/Shmoop-Dog [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/3kQK7dh via
