Can someone please!!!!!

Provide me with an official answer to this question: When aiming uphill or downhill with a compound bow, do you need to adjust your aim to compensate for elevation change? For example, if your target is 50 yards away (uphill or downhill) and you put your 50 yard pin in the center, will it hit center or will you miss high/ low? I can’t seem to find a clear answer anywhere and would really appreciate any help! Arrow lube. What do you use?

I feel like an idiot for asking this. But I’ve never used arrow lube. I haven’t shot my bow tech captain in years. And after recently recovering from a neck injury it’s the first time I’ve been able to comfortably shoot in a very long time. However after sinking my arrows into a foam block and spending more effort getting the arrows out than actually shooting I realize there’s such a thing as arrow lube, because it can’t be THIS hard to get the damn arrows back out of a target. What do you guys use? Or would just wax string work? submitted by /u/HighSpeed556 [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/3kT4glB via

I tried to bend my bow backwards by accident and now I'm worried

I got a new bow today and while trying to string it, I realized I've been bending it to the wrong side (outwards) several times. I feel really stupid and worried I might have damaged it in some way. I put the bowstring on correctly and it looks fine now but I haven't tried it out yet. Has anyone done this by accident before too? Do you think the bow is gonna be fine? (I have no clue why this happened, I've used and stringed this type of bow several times before. Building an arrow to Ed Ashby specs (compound)

Hey everyone, I'm attempting to make some (by compound bow standards) incredibly heavy arrows on a college student budget (<$300 USD per 12). I shoot a 65# draw PSE drive 3b at 29" draw with a drop-away rest. I've decided to remove myself from the speed camp for the 2022 season, and would like to build a 650+ grain arrow and 20% + FOC. I have some experience building arrows, but this would be my first real foray into the art. Does anybody have a setup they'd like to share, or have any ideas for shafts, broadheads, or inserts to help me get this project going? submitted by /u/ModernNerd9224 [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/3D29Fgx via

Short petite person (4'11''), new to archery; thinking of buying my first bow (23in draw length)

Hello everyone! I'm new to archery as a hobby and I have been going to lessons for about three weeks now, last session I was shooting with a 25 lbs recurve bow, and I got tired but I think I can handle if I practice. I have a short draw length (23 inches) thinking of buying a 30 or 35 lbs recurve bow. I found these bows on Amazon, I have limited budget, I was thinking these can do the trick, what do you think? but if you can recommend something else or give me some advice i would really appreciate it. https://www.amazon.com/-/es/gp/product/B07KPNS7QN https://www.amazon.com/-/es/gp/product/B07KPPJX44/ submitted by /u/Morpel [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/3iCCngj via

Practice question

I have been shooting since July so not that long compared to some of you. After my beginners course in July I tried to shoot 2-3 a week and saw a massive improvement in my grouping. For the last month it feels like I am not improving at the rate I would like and it feels like I am going down to the club and shooting for the sake of it with no real purpose. My question is, when you go to shoot so you concentrate on a certain aspect of your form or what exactly are you doing when you go for a session ? Just going to the club and shooting 400-500 arrows seems kind of pointless now as I feel I am missing something submitted by /u/xboxPS4 [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/39QwFlT via

Riser with large sight window - target recurve

Hey all Looking for advice. Unfortunately there's no local or even localish shops where I can get out and test out different risers. I know I need a larger sight window as my coach's bow is 66" (Ragim Matrix) and we've discovered for me to see the target properly even at 18m indoors I can barely see the sight or target as the riser is in the way. What are some larger ILF risers for target recurve late beginner? I'm not looking to jump into a Hoyt Xceed or anything...but don't need the other end with a Sammick either. I would like to get into competitons hopefully as early as next year and ideally I'd like the same riser for a few years (or forever). Also, I'm a LH shooter so no risers just for RH. Risers I've looked at that are available and seem to have decent reviews are Topoint Unison, Kinetic Arios2, Gillo G1(borderline price range) and G2, Mybo Wave XL and the WNS Motive or Vantage AX. All outside of the Mybo all are 25" risers which I...

What arrow rest are you guys using on your recurves?

Looking for a good arrow rest for my recurve bow. I currently have an AAE Stinger on it, and it works ok. Though I think it is meant more for compound bows, but I got it from 3 rivers archery and it is shown mounted to a recurve. Can’t really find much info on it either. Recurve draw length 2" longer than compound. Normal?

I started shooting recurve early this year. I was shooting around 100 arrows a day for some time, frequently visited a small shop in my area for lessons, etc. He found that I was compressing a bit on the shot and suggested a clicker. I was down at 30#s at the time and was not overboard, just had bad form. I shot with that for a long time and all was well. My DL ended up just shy of 27". I am pretty confident that this DL is correct in this case. I had since worked up to 40-45# and kept the same DL. Like I said, I was practicing A LOT! Some time later I went to a bigger shop and picked up a compound bow. They were pretty quick to assume a 25" DL by looking at me, and after flying a few test arrows it was left at 25" (not saying this is bad, they probably get pretty good at guessing this). I've since been shooting this way and I don't think my form is terrible or anything, but I'm not frequently getting form checks or anything like I had for the recurve. My ...

New to Archery

Hello. My name is Adam Madi. I am extremely interested in archery and want to start to take it on. I took an archery lesson like 20 months ago and it was very fun.I think I did pretty good, and hit many bullseyes. I was researching the types of bows I would need to use. I am left-eye dominant for archery, but I use my right hand for everything that I do. I am confused about this, and was wondering if I should buy a right hand bow or a left hand bow. I know that right handed bows are drawn with the right hand and left hand bows are drawn with the left hand. I was also wondering what draw weight to use. I am 16 years old and 190 pounds, but I exercise daily, so should I get a draw weight of 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, or 60? I appreciate any helpful responses! submitted by /u/amadi2005 [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/2XVfJrG via

150$ recurve or 200$ compound?

I have a hard time making the decision between getting a samick sage recurve bow or getting a 200$ compound bow from Ebay. I have never been involved in archery and my plan at the moment is to go out to the woods, set up a target and learn how to shoot. The big plan eventually is to learn how to hunt and that will probably be with a compound. The compound bows that i am looking at seems to be unbranded which is what is holding me back from it. Amature archer in need of advice.

I bought this bow years ago and then got super busy and haven't had a chance to use it in the passed 4 years. It's a Mathews TX5. A few question: 1: I've been using Maxima Red arrows which seem to do the job just fine, but I need to order new ones. What size do I order, or are there better ones for the bow? 2: what are good arrow tips for boar and deer hunting? 3: what practice tips should I be using to match the weight? 4: what's a good backyard target to practice on. The ones I've bees using practically require a hydraulic press to pull them out (I don't have close by neighbours so that's not an issue) submitted by /u/_canker_ [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/3oeT5pt via

Correct Arrow Spine....

Greetings all. I just recieved my first bow this summer and am hooked. I was gifted a Martin Champion 36. I love it. I have noticed, however, that my arrows corkscrew through the air and at the last 3D shoot i was at a gentleman told me my arrows may not be stiff enough. Now my friend that gifted me the bow also set me up with 350 arrows. Im wondering if 250 makes sense in light of the flight path. Im coming to the wisdom of the internet for answers. Info: Draw weight is 70 lbs Draw length is 32 inches Tips are 100gr field points Any advice is greatly appreciated. Are old recurve bows safe to shoot?

The bow belonged to my grandfathers dad (my great grandfather), and hasn’t really been used since my grandfather died in 2011. It is fully wooden, and it has been stored in its bag unstrung. I was thinking about getting back into archery, and my mother thought it would be nice to have someone else in the family use the bow. My only question is if it’s safe to use. I don’t want it to just snap in my hand. I’m fully aware that I’ll probably need to replace the strings, and I plan on taking it to a professional to get it checked, but I figured I’d ask here first. Is it even worth the money to have it checked? Is it almost 100% chance that it’s unsafe to use? I’d hate for something that was in this family for so long to be broken. Any advice is appreciated! submitted by /u/Ke11y_83 [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/39KtwUW via

Has anyone ordered stuff from nockpoint.es and have it shipped to the US? Questions about spine strength:

Hey guys, I’m pretty new to archery, and I’m wanting to know about how far I can deviate off of my spine and still be safe. I’m shooting a Matthew’s HTR with 70lbs on my draw weight, and my arrow shaft length is 27 inches. I’m not entirely sure about my draw length, but I think it’s 29 inches. I normally shoot with a 340 spine arrow. Again, this is strictly about safety and not performance, as I’m not going to get away from the 340 spines, but I just want to know. Suggestions for Two Piece Bow

Hi - I am interested in getting a two piece bow. I like to carry a bow in the backcountry so packability and weight are important. I saw the Toelke Pika - which would be perfect - https://montanabows.blogspot.com/p/one-and-two-piece-bow-designs.html?m=1 However it is very expensive. Can anyone suggest similar bows that are in lower price range - maybe more like $500. I have a shortish draw - 28” and I don’t want anything over 45# weight since I have an old shoulder injury that limits how much bow I can pull. Bow size and draw weight question..

So I have been doing archery about 9 months now, I went to an archery shop to try a bow at higher poundage as I would like to go higher. I started off on a 22# bow, (25F, weak and short), at the shop they measured my draw weight and because of my short draw I was pulling 4# less on the 66" bow that I tried, so I tried a 26# and I was pulling it at 22# (so the 22# I've been using this whole time I've only been pulling at 18#), they said if I'm pulling 4# less on a 66" then every two inch you go down on bow size you gain 2#... So am I correct in thinking, for example if I had a 64" bow at 26# I'd pull 24#? And if I had a 62" bow at 26# I'd pull at 26#? Thanks. Sorry if it's confusing tried to explain the best I can. submitted by /u/iam-theworst [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/3ibH7ZI via

What is lowest practical bow poundage?

The school of hard knocks has taught me to take care of myself. Being a senior citizen has taught me I am not bullet proof. I want to take care of the body I have. I've been an archer all my life. Recently my backyard bow broke. It was a cheapie, a PSE. So no big deal. The good thing is, I get to buy a replacement. In order to save my body parts - my fingers, shoulders, and what ever else might take a beating from use, I want to buy the lightest, PRACTCAL bow/arrow set-up commonly available. My question is, Who sells a traditional style bow with a very light pull poundage, and arrows (or just shafts) to match? The bow that broke was a 30#. My arrows measure 28 inches from the depth of the knock (the radius where the arrow contacts the string), to the end of the arrow if you were to unscrew and remove the point. It doesn't matter to me, long or recurve. I can fletch my own arrows. I normally use aluminum shafts. (Even for my compound bow.) I like to shoot distances of 20 to ...

Wrapping the bow limb?

Hi. I just bought a korean traditional bow (the modern version, not a hornbow/gakgung). But hmm, I don't really like the bow's limb finishing. At first, I thought it is made of the birch bark wood, but when it arrived, it's just a birch bark sticker. and the colour doesn't look good enough (I think the finishing doesn't worth too much for what I already spent)... So, I thought maybe I want to wrap the limb, with pu leather/ carbon fiber sticker. Is it a good idea to do it? Will it affect the bow performance especially the arrow speed? I really really hope to hear some thoughts from you guys. Tqvm in advance 🙏☺️ submitted by /u/omaewameow [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/3lZ4cQG via

Has anyone tried the PSE NXT 35 or PSE Lazer? Thoughts?

I am looking to get back into archery after not shooting since high school (about 10 years). I have gone to my local shops to try out some bows, but I'm a lefty and their stock is very limited. I'm currently thinking either a PSE NXT 35 or a PSE Lazer, but there are none for me to try. I moved up to 8 meters, and all of a sudden, my shooting went crazy. The arrows were flying all over the place and I was really confused. I found that my bow hand will kind of wiggle once the string is completely back to its original position. I found my bow arm was a little tired, and that my elbow might not have been straight, but I'm still curious if there are any other factors. submitted by /u/TheDashingPigeon [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/3m0KJPn via

Foldable Target Stands?

Me and my fiancee recently learned that we have an area fairly close by courtesy of our local game and wildlife that is set up as an Archery field. There is some large wooden structures you are able to put targets on, but no such thing as a proper backstop unless you were to put one up. Since we currently live in an apartment and want to take advantage of this field, are there any suggested portable archery stands that could be folded up? Something along the lines of this: https://www.amazon.com/AKA-Sports-Gear-Adjustable-Stand-Heavy/dp/B08QR8ZWGT but with better construction? submitted by /u/Warruzz [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/2XMV89d via

Bowtech amplify RAK package suggestion to future buyer

Hey guys !! Im a beginner in archery and I absolutely love the bow the only thing i have to say is, if you buy it the sight on it is absolute crap. Do strand amounts vary brace height ?

Guys, new to archery ( stupid question alert ! ;)) … if your strand amount goes up … say 16 strands on a recurve at 28# and 66” limbs instead of 12 strands, that would decrease the brace height would it ? It also would adversely affect the limbs as well right ? Just as well, when one says 66 “ for limbs, one refers to the length from limb tip to limb tip when the bow is unstrung, would that be the right way to judge the length of the entire bow ? The reason I ask is because bottom limb on a new recurve Ragim Matrix Custom gives two measurements. It gives the measurement ordered and an additional measurement on the right side of it which is shorter by 4” and weighs 2 # more, and I’m not sure which one the ordered recurve is ? Is it 66” at 28# or 62” at 30# ? Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance, everyone in this sub is awesomely polite and I really appreciate that. submitted by /u/kneeoclis [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/...

I’d say my new bow is accurate. First robin hood.

Love the Bowtech Solution but my budget is $1600, questions...

Note this will be my first compound bow ever. However I’ve shot on budget bows at a rental range enough to know I want this to be a major new hobby for me. I’ve made the mistake in under buying and going budget in other hobbies, like mountain bikes. It took me five years to realize that a $6000 Ripley Ibis is 100% a worthwhile expense for the trails I ride. That all said I thought a $1200-1600 budget would suffice until I went to a local shop and fell in love with a Bowtech Solution in pure black. I love the look of it and the feel of it. But then I saw it’s like $1200 with absolutely nothing else included. To note, I plan on shooting at a range at least once a week going forward for 2-3 hours. I had absolutely no problem drawing at 70lbs with a 90/10 ratio. In fact it felt kind of fun. I’d like to concentrate on building skill at that weight. I have two questions: - is there an alternative to the Solution you’d recommend that is more akin to $800? - if not, if I bought the Solut...

Limbs not used in years

Hey all, I haven’t used my bow in about 10 years, I’m looking at joining up again and am fully expecting my limbs to break. Has anyone got any advice or any tips of things I should do before shooting with them again? (Eg leave it strung up for a couple hours, just buy new limbs?) submitted by /u/Slowe123 [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/2Zn8hq4 via

Muzzie 3 blade broadheads

Is it just me, or are the broadheads a pain in the butt to put together? I put the blades in halfway so that I can push them all down together, but they feel super tight and fight all the way down. Am I dooing something wrong? submitted by /u/donggrowthus [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/39zupPN via

Horse bows and Asiatic Archery 🏹🤘!!! Here are some helpful links.

Asiatic Archery (horse bows) - Some links to help you get started. If you’re interested in traditional Asiatic Archery like the Huns, Mongols, Turks, Chinese, Manchu, Korean etc, then I recommend the book "The Way of Archery", which is a translated manual of Gaoying’s Ming archery. Their website and YouTube channel is the go to resource for tutorials and info. ( http://www.thewayofarchery.com/tutorials.html ) Armin Hirmer has a great source of info on bow reviews at YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/user/schwihi . Nomad Warriors make a $100 fiberglass bow that won't break the bank. I recommend affordable fiberglass bows similar to these for beginners before dropping $300 for the laminated bows, especially for a light weight bow you’ll likely grow out of faster than you’d expect. They are stateside so shipping will be quicker. https://www.nomadwarriors.com/store/p3/Fiberglass_Nomad_Horsebow.html There's also Alibow for GREAT affordable and quality Fiberglass and la...
