Hello, everyone.
I started shooting for a little while before Covid kicked off, because I felt drawn to it, and I had a lot of fun.
For some reason, though, I feel bad. It took me a while to unpack what it was that was making me feel that way, but I think it's because I associate it with hunting.
I'm not inherently against hunting, i feel that there is a case to be made for western subsistence hunting, but I find it to be a very tricky subject as we don't HAVE to do it. Or even eat meat at all apparently. For some reason, it's impeding my desire to shoot.
I also feel bad because of the fact that it seems that I'm drawn to a weapon. Why could that be? Is there an evolutionary drive to shoot? Am I being stupid? (Yes)
What is your take in this? I know it seems ridiculous, but try not to disparage me too much.
I don't even know if this is the right place for this. It might be too heavy.

don’t let other peoples opinions where are you down. Enjoy your archery! If we weren’t meant to eat meat we would not have canine teeth. There are still hunter gatherer societies today who would not survive attempting to be vegetarian‘s. Nor did the human race get to where it is today by being vegetarian‘s. Therefore meat eating and hunting is kind of in our DNA! Hunting for food, does not mean disrespecting life. Instead, I prefer to believe that it gives want a deeper appreciation and relationship with the process of sustenance and the sacrifice that is made towards sustenance. And I wouldn’t feel bad about being drawn to weapons. Weapons have kept us alive forever. Without weapons bad things happens to us. It is only because of those who make weapons a discipline that others are able to cast martial pursuits in a poor light. Without those who are disciplined in weaponry, We would be in big trouble even today. People will always need Warriors until nobody is waiting in the shadows to take away everything you have in very unpleasant ways! And, as I look around me in the world today that’s sort of society is far far away from us. In short, be respectful, but be joyful in your pursuits!
ReplyDeleteI meant to say “ don’t let other peoples opinions weigh up on your shoulders”. That’s their baggage, not yours.
