A question about mechanical release effects on performance.

Just a little background: I grew up shooting traditional, I started learning to shoota compound bow with sights and release about four years ago and started hunting two years ago.

Now my whole time shooting a compound bow I've been using this releaseI dont remember where I got it or the brand, just that I paid 10 dollars for it. I get okay-ish groups out to 30-40 yards, at least enough that I'm confident to take a shot on a deer out to 30.

Now that I've spent some time getting more consistent with my form, my question is would a better release help increase my accuracy? I see releases on amazon/cabelas for $100-$200, is there a point of diminishing returns on these when it comes to price:performance? I mean, I like mine, its comfortable and it works, and its held up for four years so its pretty sturdy. But I want to give myself every advantage in becoming more consistent. Not looking for a "magic bullet" purchase to make me a world class archer, just wondering if a more expensive release would be worth it to improve my shooting by any noticeable amount.

TLDR; I have a 10 dollar wrist release, would buying a more expensive (and presumably higher quality) release increase my accuracy?

Shibuya vs Axcel vs other top end sights?

So my budget has increased and i decided i'm going for a top-level sight for the target style recurve i'm building. It seems that Shibuya and Axcel are the top end, so for anyone who has experience with either one of them, or preferably both, could you tell me the differences, pros and cons, and which one is the best value? i'm planning on buying the most expensive, so the Axcel Achieve XP - Recurve or the Shibuya Ultima RC PRO Carbon Sight . If there's any other top end sights you think are better, let me know. I want this to be the first and last sight that i ever buy, and price doesn't really matter. Another question, on the Shibuya there's an option for "Single mount" and "Double mount." What do those mean? And lastly, is the sight aperture on either of the sights suitable, or is there better after-market apertures that are better? I'm sort of thinking that is something I should be buying from my local shop so i can actually te...

Help me identify a problem with aiming.

So im trying to learn how to gap shoot, but the problem is, the first step is 'use the tip of the arrow'. Now when I do this, I can already tell before shooting that if I use the tip of the arrow, the shot will go way left, this is obviously before even factoring in the gap above and below the target. I don't have too much trouble grouping in the yellow at 10ms, but the way im 'aiming' is just looking at the target and knowing that I need to shoot a certain distance to the right and a certain distance down. Im not using the arrow tip here...its hard to say exactly what im using as the reference its just a feeling I guess? I wouldn't say its instinctive as im definitely trying to aim I just don't know how im doing it, and I don't think it would hold up as I increase distance so I want to learn how to gap shoot properly. I appreciate having to adjust up or down as thats part of gap shooting, but if im having to compensate right, what could the problem ...

Question to arrows

Hello! I just started with archery, I joined a club and bought a recurve set "for beginners" (it was on sale and had everything i as a newbie needed) Sadly the arrows I got don't work for me And I don't know anything about arrows. I tried to find out what arrows I needed, but I don't know what spine i need, or how long they are supposed to be also I don't know what tips are allowed for competition (it seems mine are for hunting/3d target shooting) How do I calculate my spine or length? I have a 68" recurve with 24 lbs limbs I think my draw length might be around 25 to 27. What is the difference between "1170" and "16/16" ? I mean, what does the "/" in particular mean? This is actually very confusing I hope someone can help Thank you 🏹🍀 submitted by /u/ViviAliasTobi [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/3FCc4Qa via
