Thoughts/Recommendations on Beginner setup

Hello Everyone.

I’ve been looking at getting into Archery for a while and finally decided to pull the trigger. Been reading up on a lot of things for beginners, including the “first bow” posts on here.

I want to use a recurve, primarily for target shooting as a hobby, and maybe eventually using it to hunt (never been, but my uncle has been bugging me to go with him for a while).

I initially thought about getting one of the basic beginner recurves like the Samick Sage, but decided to get a little more advanced one that will last longer. Here’s what I plan on getting, and just looking for any comments or recommendations on other options, if there is anything I should avoid on here, or if there is anything additional I need to get to start.

Already signed up for lessons a few weeks out so hoping to get everything in before that (everything on this list is in stock).

  • Sanlida Forged A7 riser (blue, 25”)
  • Akusta Breeze Glass Foam Recurve Limbs, Med, 24# (pretty much the only one in stock at the draw weight I was looking for)
  • Flex Archery PRO Recurve String
  • Shibuya DX Pressure Button
  • Avalon Tec One Sight
  • Shibuya Ultima Recurve Rest

Extras - Avalon Bowstringer - Avalon Classic Flexible Arm Guard - Avalon Classic Quiver

Thanks!

Shibuya vs Axcel vs other top end sights?

So my budget has increased and i decided i'm going for a top-level sight for the target style recurve i'm building. It seems that Shibuya and Axcel are the top end, so for anyone who has experience with either one of them, or preferably both, could you tell me the differences, pros and cons, and which one is the best value? i'm planning on buying the most expensive, so the Axcel Achieve XP - Recurve or the Shibuya Ultima RC PRO Carbon Sight . If there's any other top end sights you think are better, let me know. I want this to be the first and last sight that i ever buy, and price doesn't really matter. Another question, on the Shibuya there's an option for "Single mount" and "Double mount." What do those mean? And lastly, is the sight aperture on either of the sights suitable, or is there better after-market apertures that are better? I'm sort of thinking that is something I should be buying from my local shop so i can actually te...

Is there any reason mediterranean and slavic draw shoot from opposite sides of the bow

When the release imparts the same twist on the string? It was my understanding that mediterranean draw has the arrow on the side opposite of the bow of the draw hand because of the twist imparted on the string affecting the arrow on release but that should mean that slavic draw would suffer from that problem. Am I missing something with this? Shouldn't that mean you could use a mediterranean draw on the same side of the bow as the draw hand and not have issues? Are my new arrows overspined?

Are 400 spine, 27" arrows overspined for 30 pound draw weight? The guy just picked the arrows, cut them and gave them to me. my old arrows were 500 spine, 32" so when I said that they looked overspined, he just shrugged and said "the chart says they're ok". Can anyone confirm my doubts? submitted by /u/Astaziel [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/3pmjVLf via
