Greetings all, total newbie questions

Morning to all!

While I`ve been interested in Archery for a long time, my country doesn´t really offer a lot of options when it comes to clubs, information, equipment or just having someone in the know who can give advice. I´ve wanted to get into it for a long time, years really, but never had a. the chance to REALLY go for it, nor b. a nearby source of info or advice.

Myself (48), Wife (42) and oldest (14) are interested in picking this up. We are absolute newbies, never having a bow in hour hands even.

In your collective opinion and since "a local club" exists here but is very limited both in accesss (pandemic) and information, could you helps us by pointing to the very best resources online to educate ourselves about the sport, equipment and the sort? we are not natural english speakers but we all have a fairly good understanding of the language so it`s ok if all/most resources are in english. I`ve also no problem on reading/watching videos /exercising for a long time before actually pulling the trigger on equipment.Your advice is appreciated.

Edit: just wanted to add: I am reading the FAQ here and it´s a great resource, but need more probably.

Shibuya vs Axcel vs other top end sights?

So my budget has increased and i decided i'm going for a top-level sight for the target style recurve i'm building. It seems that Shibuya and Axcel are the top end, so for anyone who has experience with either one of them, or preferably both, could you tell me the differences, pros and cons, and which one is the best value? i'm planning on buying the most expensive, so the Axcel Achieve XP - Recurve or the Shibuya Ultima RC PRO Carbon Sight . If there's any other top end sights you think are better, let me know. I want this to be the first and last sight that i ever buy, and price doesn't really matter. Another question, on the Shibuya there's an option for "Single mount" and "Double mount." What do those mean? And lastly, is the sight aperture on either of the sights suitable, or is there better after-market apertures that are better? I'm sort of thinking that is something I should be buying from my local shop so i can actually te...

Is there any reason mediterranean and slavic draw shoot from opposite sides of the bow

When the release imparts the same twist on the string? It was my understanding that mediterranean draw has the arrow on the side opposite of the bow of the draw hand because of the twist imparted on the string affecting the arrow on release but that should mean that slavic draw would suffer from that problem. Am I missing something with this? Shouldn't that mean you could use a mediterranean draw on the same side of the bow as the draw hand and not have issues? Are my new arrows overspined?

Are 400 spine, 27" arrows overspined for 30 pound draw weight? The guy just picked the arrows, cut them and gave them to me. my old arrows were 500 spine, 32" so when I said that they looked overspined, he just shrugged and said "the chart says they're ok". Can anyone confirm my doubts? submitted by /u/Astaziel [link] [comments] from newest submissions : Archery https://ift.tt/3pmjVLf via
