I like shooting with firearms, especially handguns, and I am looking to try archery with my mother who is already in the sport, albeit a beginner herself. I tried archery with an olympic bow and a sight before, hated it. I just don't like "guessing" where the arrow might hit.
So I thought about a compound bow, as 2 aiming points and a trigger release might feel more familiar to me. Plus, you don't have to buy cartridges for a bow (providing you don't lose or break any arrows).
What do you guys think? is a compound for me or is archery just not for me?
Another thing I don't like about archery is the inherent slowness of arrows, so does a higher poundage make a noticeable affect on the arrow? fyi right now I have a 30 lb bow, and my draw length adds about 8 lb.
