Common household items as string wax?

Almost all stores, except for grocery stores and the like, are closed in my country. I am in need of wax and I'm not sure my store has the synthetic wax, which AFAIK is ideal.

Are there any household alternatives? What about lipbalm made of wool-fat? Is candlewax acceptable?

EDIT: Maybe it's worth mentioning that my string is made of many small strings.
