Beginner here with a dilemma. Looking for some advice.

I'm inclined to call myself a beginner to archery. Although I've been shooting for the last 2 years on and off with a small 18 pound practice target compound bow. Mainly hitting cans and targets with flimsy arrows. I enjoyed it so I stuck with it. But I had no idea about form or anchor points or any of the complexities of archery.

This Christmas I was gifted with this bow kit. It's a 30# to 40# longbow. In my immediate experience with it, I find it very hard to maintain full draw for more than 10 seconds. I'm inclined to say that 40lbs is far too much for me (or any beginner). I'm also aware that buying bows off Amazon is a no-go but this was a gift so not much I can do there.

For reference, I'm a 5"10 male at a (rather light) weight of 135lbs. So I'm thinking a lighter draw weight would be better for me so I can actually hold the string at full draw and to work on and develop proper form.

But that's where I'm conflicted. I can't return this bow obviously. Most archery clubs in my area are closed and the archery equipment stores (from what I've seen) have crap or overpriced equipment or stuff that's not in my range. So what to do?

Since this longbow is a takedown would it be possible to keep the riser and just order some new limbs? Is it possible to put recurve limbs on a riser like this? Or would it just be better to order a smaller bow with a lower draw weight?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

(sorry if these were noobish questions)

Shibuya vs Axcel vs other top end sights?

So my budget has increased and i decided i'm going for a top-level sight for the target style recurve i'm building. It seems that Shibuya and Axcel are the top end, so for anyone who has experience with either one of them, or preferably both, could you tell me the differences, pros and cons, and which one is the best value? i'm planning on buying the most expensive, so the Axcel Achieve XP - Recurve or the Shibuya Ultima RC PRO Carbon Sight . If there's any other top end sights you think are better, let me know. I want this to be the first and last sight that i ever buy, and price doesn't really matter. Another question, on the Shibuya there's an option for "Single mount" and "Double mount." What do those mean? And lastly, is the sight aperture on either of the sights suitable, or is there better after-market apertures that are better? I'm sort of thinking that is something I should be buying from my local shop so i can actually te...

Recurve string hitting wrist area...

Hi, I just upgraded my 26lb to a 40lb bow, I'm loving it's power but I am having a consistent issue with hitting my wrist with the string every time I full draw, never with half draw, please see: https://imgur.com/sltnRTI I have tried different hand positions, like rotating my wrist away from the strings path but it just feels so unsteady when drawing. I don't feel like I'm holding it majorly wrong, I never encountered this issue with my 26lb so I'm a little confused about what the cause may be. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I am still pretty nooby with archery so perhaps I am just dumb. I believe my brace height is 7.5 inches if that helps, it is a 70" bow, my hand is comfortable on the grip when drawing, it isnt majorly up or down, and looks straight to me, and like i say, rotating it away just leaves me with little control over the bow. Edit: My string is a 70" string, the riser for my new bow is 1" longer than my 26lb...

Help me identify a problem with aiming.

So im trying to learn how to gap shoot, but the problem is, the first step is 'use the tip of the arrow'. Now when I do this, I can already tell before shooting that if I use the tip of the arrow, the shot will go way left, this is obviously before even factoring in the gap above and below the target. I don't have too much trouble grouping in the yellow at 10ms, but the way im 'aiming' is just looking at the target and knowing that I need to shoot a certain distance to the right and a certain distance down. Im not using the arrow tip here...its hard to say exactly what im using as the reference its just a feeling I guess? I wouldn't say its instinctive as im definitely trying to aim I just don't know how im doing it, and I don't think it would hold up as I increase distance so I want to learn how to gap shoot properly. I appreciate having to adjust up or down as thats part of gap shooting, but if im having to compensate right, what could the problem ...
