tips on buying a used compound bow for hunting?

I'll be using it for Deer, eventually Bear and if I'm lucky, maybe Elk one day.

I'd like to find a decent bargain, and I'm new to the compound bow market, so I don't really know what to look for, but I do prefer quality and something that will last a long time with basic maintenance.
