Hey, all,
I'm interested in starting an archery program at the high school I currently teach at. It's an inner-city school with a lot of interesting academic programs, but the sports offerings are pretty stereotypical. I grew up in a rural place where we had archery and skeet/trap shooting through my highschool, and I wanted to bring some of that here. I have my principal's full support - she's from a similar backround as me, and would love to put a little country into our city kids. I'm running into a bit of a snag, though.
The NASP seems to have a monopoly on things when it comes to youth archery. I don't mind so much, but they don't offer any training courses in my state or any adjacent state, and they don't have any online courses. Does anyone know of any other organizations which support youth archery with training programs that might have a presence in New York? I'd like to state in my club proposal that I have some kind of archery training certification - that goes a long way toward approval, as opposed to just being a well-intentioned enthusiast.
Any advice is welcome. This is unfamiliar territory for me.
